How this is calculated
Each option, each year: one-off costs in year one, plus repeating costs that grow by a yearly percentage. A custom core also pays yearly maintenance as a share of its build cost, from year two.
The licensed side starts empty because licence and implementation prices are quoted per bank. Enter your vendor's quote to compare.
The result shows each year's cost, the running totals, the cheaper option over the horizon and the year the lead changes, if it does.
Questions about this tool
Why are the vendor prices empty?
Core banking vendors price per bank, often per account or customer, and do not publish list prices. Enter the quote you hold.
What should go in implementation?
Configuration, data migration, parallel running, integration with payments and card systems, and the partner fees for all of it.
Why is maintenance only on the custom core?
With a licence, upgrades are usually in the vendor's support fee. With software you own, your team pays for them. Add both sides' own teams in the team lines.
Is anything I enter sent anywhere?
No. The tool runs in your browser and there is no sign-up. Nothing leaves the page unless you choose to email your result to OceanLab.

OceanLab product builds like this
Products OceanLab designed and built. Each case study covers the screens, the scope and the rules it was built for.

Keelstone - Core Banking Back-Office Console with Maker-Checker
Designed and built a clickable back-office console for a Singapore bank's deposit operations: holds and blocks, limit changes, fee waivers, payment repairs and end-of-day, with every money-moving change going through maker-checker approval.

Lotse - Open Banking Aggregator Operations Console
Designed and built a clickable operations console for a Hamburg account information service provider that connects fintechs to German bank accounts under PSD2: bank connector health, incidents, and every consent from grant to the 180-day re-authentication.

Pasje - Card Issuing and Card Controls Ops Console
Designed and built a clickable ops console for an Amsterdam fintech's Visa debit cards: find any card, see why an authorisation was declined, freeze, block or replace a card, and work the dispute queue against scheme deadlines - without staff ever seeing a full card number.

Falaj - Multi-Bank Treasury and Cash Management Platform with Dual Authorisation
Designed and built a clickable treasury platform for a Dubai-headquartered group with companies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and India: one daily cash position across 11 banks in AED, a rolling 13-week forecast, and outgoing payments that go through dual authorisation before they are released to the bank.
