Group Cash, Forecast and Payment Control for a UAE CFO
Designed and built a clickable treasury platform for a Dubai-headquartered group with companies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and India: one daily cash position across 11 banks in AED, a rolling 13-week forecast, and outgoing payments that go through dual authorisation before they are released to the bank.
Most of our work is under NDA. Per agreement, we can share the work but not the company details - all names and identifying information shown here have been changed.
Dashboard, cash position, 13-week forecast, payments and batch detail, with an entity switcher, display currency and ⌘K search across every page.
22 accounts in AED, SAR, USD, INR and EUR across 4 entities in 3 countries, each converted at a stored closing rate and marked by how fresh its balance is.
Account checksum, approved beneficiary, sanctions screening, limits, purpose code and recent bank-detail changes - checked before release, which needs every approval and an MFA step-up.
5 payment batches, 22 beneficiaries, 14 forecast categories over 13 ISO weeks, 5 bank facilities and 9 users across 5 treasury roles.
Rawdah's group treasurer started each day by logging into 11 bank portals in three countries and copying balances into a spreadsheet, so the CFO's cash number was a day old. Entity forecasts arrived in different formats, each bank applied its own payment approval rules, and an auditor found two users who could both create and approve payments at one bank.
Falaj gives the CFO, treasurer, analysts, payments officers and entity finance managers one platform: a group cash position in AED with the source and age of every balance, a 13-week forecast that shows cash against the minimum buffer and undrawn facilities, and payment batches that are checked line by line and released only after maker-checker approval with MFA.
Rawdah's money sat in AED, SAR, USD, INR and EUR accounts at 11 banks, each with its own portal, file format, cut-off and approval rules. The group needed one trusted view of its cash and one set of controls over what leaves it.
Balances were copied from 11 bank portals into a spreadsheet and converted by hand. By the time the CFO saw a group cash number it was a day old, and nobody trusted it.
Each entity kept its own forecast in its own format. The group view was assembled late on a Thursday and missed large payments that entity teams knew about but never shared.
Payments were approved in each bank's portal with that bank's rules, so the group had no single view of who could pay what. Maker-checker and segregation of duties had to hold across every bank at once.
AED 38 million sat idle in UAE current accounts while the Saudi entity drew on an overdraft at SAIBOR plus 2.25%. Indian accounts generally cannot join a cross-border pool under FEMA, so pooling has to respect local rules.
Mapped 7 roles, 32 screens and the data model for bank accounts, balances, statements, forecast versions, payments, batches, approval rules, FX deals, intercompany loans and facilities. Wrote down the rules the design follows: MT940 and MT942 or camt.053 and camt.052 statements, pain.001 files with pain.002 replies, the AED and SAR pegs to the US dollar, FEMA and RBI rules for India, UAE corporate tax and VAT dates, maker-checker and segregation of duties, and each country's weekend and cut-offs.
Built 5 key screens on a production dashboard kit: the dashboard with group cash, available liquidity, net debt and lowest forecast balance; the cash position with ledger and available views, pivots, an intraday strip and restricted cash shown apart; the 13-week forecast with cell drill-in, treasury adjustments, roll forward and lock; payments by status; and batch detail with approve, reject and release to bank. Every action works on local demo data.
Bank connectivity through a SWIFT service bureau, host-to-host SFTP or bank APIs, with an ISO 20022 mapping per bank; the ERP (such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion or Dynamics 365); FX and benchmark rates from LSEG or Bloomberg; sanctions screening; and Microsoft Entra ID sign-on. The approval matrix and segregation-of-duties checks enforced on the server, an append-only audit log, and the remaining screens for statements, reconciliation, approvals, beneficiaries, FX, intercompany, debt, reports and settings.
Each account carries a freshness chip - intraday MT942, end of day MT940, manual or stale over 24 hours - and the rate used to convert it. Restricted margin and escrow cash sits in its own section and is left out of available totals.
The forecast stacks undrawn committed facilities on top of cash and draws the AED 40 million minimum buffer, so weeks that fall below it are marked red. The lowest forecast balance and its week sit on the dashboard every morning.
Each batch shows who approved which step, when and with MFA, and the checks on every line before release. The screen states that nobody who created or edited a payment can approve it, and that the route mirrors the mandate filed with the bank.
Every forecast cell shows where its number came from: ERP, entity submission, recurring rule, treasury adjustment or system. A treasury adjustment needs a comment, and versions are locked and compared week on week.

Designed and built a clickable back-office console for a Singapore bank's deposit operations: holds and blocks, limit changes, fee waivers, payment repairs and end-of-day, with every money-moving change going through maker-checker approval.

An onboarding platform for an Irish digital bank: applicants open a EUR current account from their phone with ID and selfie liveness checks, and a staff console lets onboarding and financial crime teams review the cases the rules cannot decide, through to an issued Irish IBAN.
