Weaver - Relationship Manager 360 Workspace

One View of Every Client for a South African Bank

Designed and built a clickable relationship workspace for a South African bank's business and private relationship managers: every client's accounts, cards, loans, facilities, FX and investments on one screen, with alerts, next best actions and the opportunity pipeline that tell an RM what needs doing today.

Impact

5 Screens
Clickable end to end

RM home, alerts, client list, client 360 with 6 tabs and the opportunity pipeline, with a role switch between RM, team lead and credit analyst.

6 Product Types
In one client view

Accounts, cards, loans, facilities, FX forwards and investments, read-only from the systems of record, with a freshness strip that turns amber when a source is stale.

Consent-Checked
Next best actions

Every suggestion is checked for marketing consent and segment suitability; blocked ones cannot be accepted, and NCA-regulated credit is flagged for the lending journey.

28 Clients
Realistic demo data

21 alerts, 21 opportunities, 9 next best actions, 10 tasks and 6 meetings across a business and private book, with PEP, restricted and FICA flags.

The Problem

Karoo Ridge's 140 relationship managers each look after 60 to 180 clients, but a client's picture was spread across seven systems: core banking, lending, cards, FX, wealth, a KYC tool and a CRM most RMs had stopped updating. Meeting prep meant 45 minutes of screenshots, large outflows to competitors were spotted after the client had left, and meeting notes lived in notebooks and email.

Our Solution

Weaver pulls every holding into one client 360, adds the relationship layer the systems of record lack (contacts and consent, meetings, alerts, tasks, opportunities and next best actions) and opens each day on an RM home that ranks what needs doing. Balances stay in core banking; Weaver owns the notes, the pipeline and the follow-up.

The Challenge: One Relationship, Seven Systems

Relationship banking in South Africa runs on trust and on rules: POPIA, FICA, FAIS, the National Credit Act and the FSCA's Treating Customers Fairly outcomes. The bank needed one picture of each client that RMs would actually use, without breaking any of them.

A Client Picture Nobody Could See

Accounts, term loans, overdrafts, cards, FX deals and investments each lived in their own system, so no RM could see a client's full balances, limits or drawn exposure without logging into several tools.

Signals Found Too Late

A R12 million outflow to another bank, a facility nearing expiry or an overdue FICA refresh only surfaced once the client had left, credit had flagged the review, or nobody knew which RM owned the connected party.

Selling Within the Rules

Electronic direct marketing generally needs opt-in consent or a valid existing-customer basis, products must suit the segment under TCF, and credit to individuals and small businesses needs an NCA affordability assessment. Suggestions have to respect all three.

Advice With No Record

Meeting notes in notebooks and email meant the bank could not always produce a FAIS record of advice when the FSCA or internal compliance asked for one, and restricted clients and PEPs needed tighter access.

Our Approach: From Rules to a Clickable Workspace

01

Spec and Rules Research

Mapped 8 staff roles, from business and private RMs to credit analysts, compliance and the service desk, 30 screens and the data model for clients, connected parties, holdings, consent, alerts, next best actions, opportunities and advice records. Wrote down the rules the design follows: POPIA, FICA customer due diligence and PEP flags, FAIS advice records and conflicts, TCF, the National Credit Act and SARB exchange control.

02

Clickable Demo on a Production UI Kit

Built 5 key screens on a production dashboard kit: the RM home with KPIs, today's meetings, top alerts, tasks, next best actions, pipeline snapshot and neglected clients; alerts with snooze, close with outcome and an outflow chart; the client list with audited export and restricted rows; the client 360 with products, profitability, timeline, contacts with per-channel consent and service; and the opportunity pipeline board with drag and drop.

03

What a Production Build Adds

Integration with core banking (such as Temenos Transact or Infosys Finacle), lending (nCino or Finastra Loan IQ), the card processor, the FX system, the wealth platform, CIPC, the FICA tool, market data and Microsoft 365 calendars. Staff SSO with access by book and team, an append-only audit log, locked FAIS advice records, and the remaining screens for group structure, meetings, prep packs, service, reviews, team and compliance.

Why It Works: The Day Starts With What Matters

Today, Ranked

The RM home opens on today's meetings with prep pack status, the highest-severity alerts, tasks due or overdue, and clients past their segment's contact standard (every 60 days for Tier 1 business). Out-of-office cover brings a colleague's book into the same lists.

Alerts That Explain Themselves

Each alert shows the data behind it, such as "R12.4 million paid to another bank, 3.1x the 12-month average", with a 12-month outflow chart and related products. Age is counted in working days, and closing an alert needs an outcome.

Compliance in the Screen

FICA status and next refresh, PEP, NCA, restricted and conflict declaration flags sit in the client header. Restricted rows are masked outside the relationship team, exports are audited, and a quick note that sounds like advice prompts for a FAIS advice record.

A Pipeline That Hands Off Cleanly

Opportunity cards age amber after 14 days and red after 21 without activity. Moving to Won needs the product reference from the system of record and Lost needs a reason, so the pipeline matches what was actually booked.
