How this is calculated
The form follows what an approver needs: what changes, why, priority, effort in hours, cost (hours × rate), schedule impact, what it affects, risks and the options considered.
The rate defaults to OceanLab's engineering rate of $50 an hour. Use the rate in your own contract.
The document is built in your browser as Markdown, with an approval block at the end.
Questions about this tool
When do I need a change request?
Whenever a change moves the agreed scope, cost or dates. It keeps both sides clear on what was agreed, and is most important on fixed-price and milestone contracts.
Should small changes get one too?
Agree a threshold, for example anything over a day of work. Smaller changes can be batched into one request.
What rate does it use?
OceanLab's engineering rate of $50 an hour by default. Change it to the rate in your contract.
Is anything I enter sent anywhere?
No. The tool runs in your browser and there is no sign-up. Nothing leaves the page unless you choose to email your result to OceanLab.
