CPQ Platform for a Bulgarian Cold Room Manufacturer
Designed and built a clickable configure-price-quote platform for a Plovdiv maker of modular cold rooms and refrigeration units: a configurator that sizes the cooling and checks safety rules as you edit, a quote workspace with live pricing, margin and VAT treatment, and an approvals queue driven by a fixed discount matrix.
Most of our work is under NDA. Per agreement, we can share the work but not the company details - all names and identifying information shown here have been changed.
Dashboard, quotes list, quote workspace, 7-step configurator and approvals queue. Prices, BOM, cooling load, rule checks, totals and the approvals a quote needs are computed live from the demo data.
Errors, warnings and engineering sign-offs, such as a 120 mm minimum panel for frozen storage, a heated frame on freezer doors and an EN 378 check for an R290 charge over 0.5 kg in a room under 20 m². Save to quote stays disabled while any error remains.
Up to 5% needs no approval, 5 to 10% goes to the sales manager, 10 to 18% to the export manager or commercial director, and above 18% to the commercial director. A margin under the 22% direct floor always goes to the commercial director.
31 configured rooms, 17 accounts in 12 countries, 3 dealers and distributors, 10 refrigeration units, 9 approvals and quotes in EUR, USD, RON and AED.
Dzhendem quoted from an Excel workbook that only two sales engineers fully understood. Refrigeration was sized by hand, prices came from five separate price lists, and quotes were pasted into a Word template. Freezer rooms went out with chiller-grade panels, discounts were approved by phone with no record, export deals were won below cost once freight and installation were counted, and a standard quote took 2 to 4 working days.
Skrezh takes a salesperson from "we need a -20 °C room, 6 by 4 metres" to a valid configuration, a bill of materials and a priced quote in the customer's currency. The configurator sizes the unit and applies engineering's rules as you edit, the quote workspace shows margin against target and floor with the expected VAT treatment, and each discount routes to the approver the matrix names.
A cold room quote is an engineering decision, a price and a tax position at once. It has to be buildable and safe, sized for the site's climate, priced from the right channel's price book and approved at the right level before it reaches the customer.
Panel thickness depends on the room temperature, freezer doors need heated frames and every walk-in room needs an inside release and a trapped-person alarm. EN 378 limits refrigerant charge by safety class, and only unit variants in Dzhendem's CE technical files may be sold. The workbook checked none of this.
Cooling load depends on the room envelope, the product loaded each day, door openings and the site's ambient temperature. A unit that fits a Bulgarian summer can be too small in the Gulf, where the design ambient is 46 °C instead of 32 °C.
Discounts were agreed by phone with no record of who approved them. Several export deals were won below cost once freight and installation were added, because margin was never shown against a target or a floor while quoting.
Domestic sales carry 20% VAT, intra-EU sales to VAT-registered buyers are exempt with a VIES check, and exports are zero-rated. Bulgaria moved to the euro on 1 January 2026, quotes go out in USD, RON or AED too, and some destinations need extra documents such as Saudi SABER registration or are blocked by EU sanctions.
Mapped 12 roles from sales engineer and pricing manager to dealer and customer, 39 screens across staff, partner portal and customer pages, and the data model for products, configurations, rule sets, BOM templates, price books, quotes, approvals and ERP hand-offs. Wrote down the rules the design follows: the EU F-gas Regulation, EN 378, CE marking, the euro changeover at 1.95583 leva, VAT and VIES, Incoterms 2020, eIDAS signatures and destination rules.
Built 5 key screens on a production dashboard kit: the dashboard with KPIs, pipeline by status, accepted value by region and a margin watch against the floor, the quotes list with warning flags, the quote workspace with version bar, price waterfall, BOM viewer and an editable header discount, the configurator with a to-scale plan view and cooling load, and the approvals queue with delegation. The pricing maths runs live as you edit.
Integration with the CRM, the ERP (such as SAP Business One or Dynamics 365 Business Central) for sales orders and standard costs, e-signature through Evrotrust, B-Trust or DocuSign, PDF generation, ECB rates, VIES, freight rates and sanctions screening. Role-based access, a full audit log of every price, discount and override, and the remaining screens: catalogue, pricing, reports, settings, the partner portal and the customer quote pages.
The configurator lists each rule that fired as error, warning, sign-off or OK, with the inputs it used and the rule set version. Units that cannot cool the room are shown greyed with the reason, and the safety release and trapped-person alarm cannot be removed.
Dimensions snap to the 100 mm panel module, the ambient temperature defaults from the delivery country, and the cooling load breaks down into transmission, product, infiltration and internal loads with the selected unit's headroom.
The quote workspace shows margin against the target and the floor with its cost basis, and changing the header discount updates totals, VAT and the approval the quote needs at once. Non-EUR quotes show the EUR value at the locked rate.
Each request names its reasons, such as discount band, margin below target or partner allowance. Ages count in working hours, amber after 4 and red after 1 working day, approvers can set a delegate, and no one can approve their own quote.

Designed and built a clickable CRM for an Asunción distributor of compressors, pumps and generators selling across Paraguay and southern Brazil: a pipeline whose stages follow how capital equipment is really sold, opportunity detail with technical sizing and CPQ quote hand-offs, a service contract renewals pipeline and an installed base that flags units due for replacement.

Designed and built a clickable sales enablement hub for a San Juan medical device manufacturer: one library of approved sales material per product, market and language, a medical, legal and regulatory (MLR) review workspace with signed approvals, and expiry and IFU checks that pull outdated material before reps can use it.
