Jalon - Pipeline Analytics and Forecast Calls Built on Nightly Snapshots

Revenue Analytics for a Montreal Logistics Software Company

Designed and built a clickable, French-first pipeline analytics product for a Montreal company selling transportation, dock scheduling and yard management software: pipeline as it stood on any past date, weekly forecast calls that roll up from rep to CRO, push and risk detection, and deal inspection for the weekly review.

Impact

5 Screens
Clickable end to end

Home, pipeline snapshot, my forecast call, deal inspection with 6 preset tabs and deal detail. Every one of the 28 demo deals opens its own detail page with history, pushes and notes.

6 Risk Flags
Computed for every open deal

Pushed 2 or more times, no activity in 14 days, Commit before the Proposal stage, close date passed, no next step, and more than 1.5 times the median days in stage. Each flag states its reason.

10% Rule
Encoded in the forecast call

A call that moves more than 10% from last week cannot be submitted without a comment. Submitted calls are never overwritten: a resubmission becomes version 2.

28 Deals
Realistic demo data

24 open and 4 closed this quarter across a 6-rep team in Québec, 6 rep calls for week 13 with 5 submitted, 2 US-dollar deals at the plan rate of 1.36 and 13 weeks of quarter progress and forecast history.

The Problem

Rivebrume's CRM only knew the present. Every Monday the revenue operations analyst pasted this week's pipeline export next to last week's and explained the difference by hand. Deals were pushed three or four times unnoticed, managers typed over their reps' numbers in a shared forecast sheet, loss reasons were free text, and the board pack took three days a quarter, did not match billing and existed in English only.

Our Solution

Jalon reads the CRM and billing system without writing back, snapshots every open deal every night, and builds on that history: pipeline on any past date, what changed between two dates, forecast calls submitted and versioned at every level, push and risk detection, and deal inspection for weekly reviews, in French and English.

The Challenge: A Forecast Without a Memory

Rivebrume sells to shippers, carriers and logistics providers in Canada and the northeastern and midwestern United States. Its sales team works under Québec privacy and language law, in two currencies, with a board that asks for figures in French.

A Pushed Deal Looks Healthy

On the day you look at it, a deal moved into next quarter for the third time looks exactly like a new one. Only a daily history of close dates, stages and amounts shows slippage, shrinkage and deals that quietly stall.

Calls Nobody Could Score

Managers typed over their reps' numbers in a shared sheet, so after the quarter nobody could say whose call had been closest or at which week the forecast became reliable. Every call at every level has to be kept as submitted.

Numbers People Argued About

"3x coverage" meant different things to different people. US-dollar deals moved with the exchange rate, and bookings in the board pack did not match what billing had invoiced. Definitions, a fixed plan rate and a clear line between bookings and revenue had to be built in.

Privacy and French by Default

Law 25 calls for a privacy impact assessment, protective defaults and notice of profiling, so rep scorecards can inform managers but never decide on their own. The Charter of the French Language and Bill 96 make French work tools the default.

Our Approach: From Revenue Rules to a Clickable Product

01

Spec and Rules Research

Mapped 10 roles from account executive to board member, 36 screens and the data model for nightly opportunity snapshots, a versioned sales hierarchy, forecast calls, judged categories, quotas, normalised loss reasons and board packs. Wrote down the rules the design follows: Law 25, PIPEDA, the Charter of the French Language and Bill 96, a fixed plan exchange rate, bookings kept apart from revenue, and a Monday 12:00 call deadline.

02

Clickable Demo on a Production UI Kit

Built 5 key screens in French on a production dashboard kit, seen by a sales manager in week 13 of the quarter: home with KPIs, quarter progress and the weekly waterfall, the pipeline snapshot with stage bars and a pivot table, the forecast call with judged categories and reports' calls, deal inspection presets, and deal detail with snapshot history and push log. The as-of date, scope and currency pickers work on every page; all actions run on local state.

03

What a Production Build Adds

Read-only connections to Salesforce or HubSpot and to Chargebee or Stripe Billing, nightly snapshots in Snowflake on AWS Canada Central, Bank of Canada reference rates, BambooHR start dates for rep ramp, Entra ID single sign-on and Slack and email reminders. Plus the remaining screens for roll-up, accuracy, win/loss, cohorts, scorecards, board packs with signed expiring links, an English interface, and an audit log of every call, definition change, export and share link.

Why It Works: History First, Judgement Recorded

Any Page, Any Past Date

The as-of picker answers what the pipeline looked like on that day. Past dates show an amber band and hide deals created later, so nobody mistakes an old view for today's data.

Judgement Without Touching the CRM

A manager can judge a rep's Commit deal as Best case for their own call, with a reason. The CRM category stays as it is, and both appear side by side in every weekly call.

Flags That Explain Themselves

Each risk chip carries its reason, such as "close date moved 3 times, 71 days in total" or days in stage against the median. Inspection presets put commit at risk, repeated pushes and stale deals one click away.

One Currency, One Language Default

Amounts show in Canadian dollars at the plan rate, with a toggle to the deal's original currency. The interface is French-first, with Québec number and date formats, and the spec produces every screen and board pack in both languages from the same figures.
