The Problem

EnerWise's customers had a smart meter and a vague monthly bill — but no idea which appliances were driving their costs, when their AC was over-running, or how to actually cut spend without changing behaviour blind.

Our Solution

We delivered a single mobile app that pairs with circuit-clamp IoT sensors, attributes consumption to each appliance, surfaces actionable AI insights, and lets users control devices and schedules from one screen — validated through a clickable AI prototype before any firmware integration.

The Challenge: A Bill Without Context

Smart meters tell you the total — they don't tell you why. EnerWise's users needed device-level insight to actually change behaviour.

No Device-Level Visibility

Smart meters reported aggregate usage. Users could not see which appliance was driving spikes or running outside its schedule.

Insights That Demand Action

Static charts don't change behaviour. Users needed AI insights that named the cause and suggested a one-tap fix.

Hardware Onboarding

Circuit-clamp sensors had to be paired and commissioned by non-technical residents. Onboarding had to be foolproof.

Tariff-Aware Scheduling

Australian tariff windows shift hourly. Smart-control automations had to respect tariffs, solar export and battery state.

Discovery & Scope

Weeks 1–2: embedded with EnerWise's hardware, product and field teams. Mapped every flow from sensor pairing to daily insight to smart-control automation.

AI-Driven Clickable Prototype

Weeks 3–4: built a fully interactive iOS and Android prototype with mocked sensor telemetry and AI insights, so the team could click through every flow before any firmware integration.

Production Build & Launch

Weeks 5–12: shipped the production app for iOS and Android with live device telemetry, OTA sensor updates, AI insight engine, smart-control automations, and tariff-aware scheduling.
