Supplier Visibility Platform for a Swedish Home Retailer
Designed and built a clickable inbound visibility platform for a Stockholm furniture and home goods retailer buying from about 180 factories in Vietnam, China, India and Turkey: every purchase order followed from supplier confirmation through production milestones, inspection and shipping to predicted arrival at the distribution centre, measured against the date the goods are needed.
Most of our work is under NDA. Per agreement, we can share the work but not the company details - all names and identifying information shown here have been changed.
Dashboard, purchase orders, PO detail with 6 tabs, the milestone board and arrivals vs need-by. Every one of the 26 demo POs opens its own detail page.
From Sent and Confirmed through Materials in, QC inspection and Ex-works to Arrived at DC, each with its planned date, latest estimate and the difference in days.
Milestone cards turn amber after 3 days late and red after 7. Arrivals up to 7 days after need-by are at risk and later ones are late, and POs whose ready date moved out more than 5 days in a week show under Slipping now.
12 suppliers with 13 factory sites in 4 countries, 26 items, 3 campaigns, 2 distribution centres and 12 staff users, with dashboard totals for a book of 612 open POs.
Norrkulla Hem's buying office tracked about 2,400 purchase orders a year across the ERP, a spreadsheet per buyer and thousands of factory emails. Ready dates were confirmed late or not at all, inspection reports and shipping documents arrived as loose PDFs, and planners only learned of a delay when a container missed its slot at the distribution centre. Campaign ranges arrived late or half-shipped, and the sustainability team could not say which factories held a valid FSC certificate or a current social audit.
Siktlinje follows every purchase order from the moment it is sent to a supplier until the goods reach the distribution centre. Buyers, planners, quality and logistics staff see what is late and why in one place, with each PO's milestones, inspection, documents, shipping and predicted arrival against need-by, while suppliers get a simple portal to confirm orders and report progress.
A Swedish retailer buying its own range from factories in four countries depends on suppliers, inspection companies and forwarders to tell it what is happening, each in their own format, language and time zone, while EU rules ask for more evidence about where products come from.
Suppliers confirmed ready dates by email, sometimes weeks after the order, and nobody updated the spreadsheet when a factory slipped. By the time a delay showed in the ERP, the campaign it belonged to was already at risk.
Pre-shipment inspections follow AQL sampling under ISO 2859-1, with Norrkulla Hem's policy of zero critical, 2.5 major and 4.0 minor. Their reports came as PDFs from the inspection company, and bills of lading and packing lists from forwarders.
Factory staff in Vietnam, China, India and Turkey work in Vietnamese, Chinese, Hindi, Turkish or English, often on a phone with a slow connection. Each supplier may only see its own orders, and their data is held in the EU under GDPR.
An FSC claim is valid only when every owner in the chain holds a valid chain of custody certificate, each factory needs a recent social audit, and the EU Deforestation Regulation asks for harvest geolocation for many wood products. None of it was held in one place.
Mapped 9 user roles from buyers and supply planners to sourcing office staff and supplier users, 40 screens across the staff console and a mobile-first supplier portal, and the data model for purchase orders, lines, milestones, inspections, documents, shipments, risk flags, exceptions, certificates, audits and EUDR records. Wrote down the rules the design follows: GDPR and the Swedish Data Protection Act, GDPR transfer rules for suppliers outside the EEA, the EUDR, FSC chain of custody, social audit schemes, Incoterms 2020 and AQL sampling.
Built 5 key screens of the staff console on a production dashboard kit: the dashboard with KPIs, inbound pipeline, at-risk arrivals and My work by role, the purchase order list with saved views and inline lines, PO detail with the milestone rail and tabs for lines, milestones, inspection, documents, shipping and activity, the milestone board, and arrivals vs need-by per distribution centre. Accepting a date change, accepting a document or reporting a milestone for a supplier updates the screen as you click.
Integration with the ERP (such as Dynamics 365 or SAP S/4HANA), EDIFACT order, response and despatch messages, forwarder and container tracking APIs, port congestion data, inspection company feeds, the FSC certificate database, Sedex and amfori exports, the warehouse system, DeepL translation and Twilio messaging. Staff single sign-on, a full audit trail of every date change and decision, and the remaining screens, including the supplier portal in five languages.
Each PO shows the requested, confirmed and latest estimated ready date next to the need-by date at the distribution centre, and the predicted arrival names its source and confidence. Campaign cards show the share of lines predicted on time and list the late ones.
Cards on the milestone board move when a milestone is reported, with photo counts and a verified tick from the sourcing office. Staff can report for a supplier only with a reason, and it is recorded as staff-reported.
Messages to a supplier are written in English and translated into the supplier's language, with the original kept beside it. Internal notes sit in the same timeline but are never shown to the supplier.
My work changes with the role: unconfirmed POs and date change requests for a buyer, late campaign lines for a planner, failed inspections for quality, unbooked ex-works POs for logistics and expiring certificates for sustainability.

Designed a shipment tracking portal and operations console for an Antwerp freight forwarder moving ocean and air freight between Asia and Europe, and built the ops console as a clickable demo: shipment files with predicted and carrier ETAs, milestone timelines that show their sources, an exception queue against response targets and carrier data feed health.

Designed and built a clickable dispatch console for a Guadalajara distributor of building materials and beverages: import tomorrow's orders, plan routes for four depots on a map, route list and timeline, check every manual change against the fleet's limits, publish before the 20:00 deadline and watch the day live.
