Recua - Dispatch and Route Optimisation Console for a Regional Distributor

Route Planning Console for a Guadalajara Distributor

Designed and built a clickable dispatch console for a Guadalajara distributor of building materials and beverages: import tomorrow's orders, plan routes for four depots on a map, route list and timeline, check every manual change against the fleet's limits, publish before the 20:00 deadline and watch the day live.

Impact

5 Screens
Clickable end to end

Control tower dashboard, order pool, order detail, the plan workspace with map, route cards and timeline, and live tracking. Each of the 4 depot plans opens in the workspace.

6 Checks
On every manual change

A load over the legal payload, too many pallets or a crane stop on a truck without a crane is refused with the reason. A late window, a zone weight limit or a run past shift end is allowed with a warning.

7 Checks
Per route before publish

Driver app active, vehicle available, weight and volume within limits, special needs matched, no hard-constraint breaks, driver hours within shift and Carta Porte data ready for the ERP.

102 Orders
Realistic demo data

102 orders for tomorrow and 97 for today across 4 depots, 11 zones, 24 vehicles of 4 types, 21 drivers, 114 customers, 17 routes and 11 exceptions.

The Problem

Huizache's four depots each planned routes by hand the evening before, on printed order lists and a wall map. Planners could not see across depots, so trucks from different depots crossed paths on the same streets, crane trucks went to shops that only needed a pallet jack, drivers ran past their shift end, and nobody could tell a customer when their truck would arrive. Planning took three hours per depot every evening and about 7% of drops failed on the first attempt.

Our Solution

Recua turns tomorrow's orders into published truck routes and then tracks the day. Dispatchers check imported orders, run the optimisation against the real fleet and driver shifts, adjust routes by hand with every change re-checked, publish to the driver app before the deadline, and follow each truck live with late-risk alerts and re-plans.

The Challenge: The Right Truck at the Right Door

Huizache delivers cement, blocks, rebar, tile, plumbing, water, soft drinks and beer to about 3,000 retail and trade customers across the Guadalajara metro area and the rest of Jalisco, with 120 trucks running from 4 depots. Every drop has its own window, load and access needs.

Four Depots, No Shared View

Each depot planned only its own zones, so nobody could move an order to the depot best placed to serve it, and routes from Tlaquepaque and Zapopan overlapped on the same streets.

Every Drop Needs a Capable Truck

Orders differ in weight, volume, pallets and needs such as a crane, tail lift or two-person unload. Each vehicle has a legal payload set by the fleet team in line with NOM-012-SCT-2, and municipalities restrict heavy vehicles by street and time, such as no trucks over 3.5 t in the historic centre from 07:00 to 10:00.

Hour Limits That Will Change

The Federal Labour Law sets daily hours, overtime and rest days, and a 2026 reform cuts the maximum working week from 48 to 40 hours between 2027 and 2030. Shift limits have to be Huizache's own settings that the plan warns against, not numbers fixed in code.

Tracking People and Paperwork

Driver positions, hours and customer contacts are personal data under the LFPDPPP, published in a new version in March 2025, so tracking is limited to working shifts. Routes on federal roads generally need a CFDI with the Carta Porte complement, stamped by the ERP's PAC before the truck leaves.

Our Approach: From Dispatch Rules to a Clickable Console

01

Spec and Rules Research

Mapped 9 roles from depot dispatcher to logistics manager, plus the driver and the customer, 37 screens including a public tracking page, 5 slide-over panels and the data model for depots, zones and access rules, vehicles, drivers, shifts, orders, plans, optimisation runs, routes and stops. Wrote down the rules the design follows: the LFPDPPP and ARCO rights, the Federal Labour Law and driving-time rules, NOM-012-SCT-2 and municipal access rules, the Carta Porte complement, opt-out for customer messages and an audit of every publish and override.

02

Clickable Demo on a Production UI Kit

Built 5 key screens on a production dashboard kit with a schematic map of the Guadalajara metro area: the control tower with tomorrow's readiness per depot, the order pool with validation warnings and bulk actions, order detail with pin correction and delivery attempts, the plan workspace with re-optimise, locks, stop and route panels and the publish checklist, and live tracking with alerts and a re-plan preview. Routes recompute times, km, load and cost on every change.

03

What a Production Build Adds

Integration with the ERP (such as SAP Business One or Dynamics 365 Business Central) and its PAC for Carta Porte stamping, Google Maps Platform or HERE truck routing, a solver such as Google OR-Tools, Samsara or Geotab telematics, Twilio WhatsApp and SMS, the driver app API and Microsoft Entra ID sign-in. Plus the remaining screens: ERP imports, optimisation setup, compare runs, fleet, drivers and shifts, exceptions, proof of delivery, customers, reports, scenarios, settings and the customer tracking page.

Why It Works: Every Route Checked Before It Leaves

Map, List and Timeline in Sync

The workspace shows routes on the map, as cards with weight and volume bars (amber over 90%, red over 100%) and as a timeline with loading, service, window bands and the driver's shift end. A KPI strip shows km, cost per drop, lateness and overtime against the last solver result.

Hard Rules Refuse, Soft Rules Warn

A move that breaks payload, pallet positions or a crane need is refused with the reason. A late window, zone weight limit or shift overrun is allowed with a warning, and the publish panel lists each kept warning before routes go out.

Unplanned Orders Say Why

Orders the plan could not place sit as grey pins with the reason: no capacity, window cannot be met, no free crane truck, zone closed or shift end. Orders with missing data are flagged in the pool before planning starts.

The Day Watched Against the Clock

The dashboard tracks each depot's plan against the 20:00 publish deadline. Live tracking sorts routes by most late, flags late risk, stops outside a drop, off-route trucks and drivers near shift end, and previews the return times and extra km of a re-plan.
